lorThe French Trip
Wednesday May 1st   Well, everyone made it - just! Dave turned up five minutes before we boarded. Apparently he was watching TV and forgot the time! A few bevies were then consumed at the bar and we all relaxed into holiday mood before disapearing to our cabins. Thursday May 2nd A foggy and dull start. After leaving the ferry it was a case off wipe your visor every 5 minutes, but after our breakfast stop in a small town the fog cleared and we headed via the back roads to Combourg for lunch and to meet up with Tony and Lynda. After the welcome break from the saddle next was a fuel stop then onward to Reminiac and a couple of cold beers at “Mototaranis” provided by Ken and Lesley followed by a warm shower and 3 course meal plus wine all inclusive then off to bed!!! Friday May 3rd fantastic ride out with plenty of stops for coffee and recuperation for the older members of the gang (ME)!  It’s difficult to describe the road in the area as anything other than stunning, yes there are the occaisional cars in the way but in general the roads are empty. After a lunch break in the ancient town of Ploermel it was time to find a twisty road back, that was easy - every road round here was a twisty! Back at Mototaranis it was time for a hot shower, a few beers and evening meal. Ken and Lesley’s cooking is outstanding! A few more beers and a lively chat about about the day whilst out on the Patio then time for bed again. Saturday May 4th What a day, first a short ride to fuel up again at Malestroit then off the the seaside somewhere near Vannes, I can’t remember the name of the place but yet again a fantastic route was picked by Alan & Rick. The ride back was via Josselin, this is a beutifull old town and well worth a visit if you are in the area. A manic ride back for the faster in the group but not me, my days of chin on tank are over thankfully! Sunday May 5th A quiet day for many but some of us decided to follow Ken on his Bonny for a trip to a Chateau that has been converted to a luxury Hotel. Warning, Kens bike is not slow, so be prepared!!!! Monday May 6th Up for an early breakfast then say our goodbyes to Ken and Lesley and prep for and use the N routes back to Caen for the ferry. All in all a fantastic holiday with friends enjoying the delights of Brittany. I can’t wait for next year!
